Man on Keira Knightley harassment charge

A man has appeared in court charged with harassing actress Keira Knightley.

Marek Daniluk, 41, a Polish national, of Godolphin Close, Enfield, appeared before magistrates in Westminster who set a trial date for 4 June.

He was arrested on Thursday outside the Comedy Theatre, Panton Street, London where Knightley, 24, is currently appearing in Moliere's The Misanthrope.

It came after a woman complained to police about the behaviour of a man outside the theatre on Wednesday.

Knightley complained of being stalked by five people two years ago. It is believed to have led to her decision to move from the UK to the US.

Ian Carmichael has died at the age of 89.

Veteran British actor Ian Carmichael, seen in films including I'm All Right Jack, has died at the age of 89.

Carmichael, who also starred on TV as Bertie Wooster in the BBC's World of Wooster, had fallen ill over Christmas.

He died peacefully on Friday at his home in the Esk Valley on the North York Moors.

He made his name in films for the Boulting Brothers including Private's Progress (1956) and I'm All Right Jack (1959) alongside Peter Sellers.

During the 1960s and 1970s, he was successful in parts where he was cast as a loveable buffoon.

On television, his role as Bertie Wooster was particularly popular with audiences.

This was followed by another well-watched role as Lord Peter Wimsey in several of the BBC drama series based on the mystery novels by Dorothy L Sayers.

In more recent times the actor had parts in the BBC serial Wives and Daughters in 1999 and was in The Royal on ITV as recently as last year.

Former sports commentator Neil Durden-Smith, who knew Carmichael well through their work for the Lord's Taverners cricket-based charity, paid tribute to the actor.

"When I became a trustee in 1976 he had been chairman for two years. He was a marvellous chairman, very caring, hard working, very responsible.

"It's quite unusual for a full-time working actor to be chairman of a pretty big charity."

Asked what made Carmichael popular on screen, Mr Durden-Smith, 76, said: "He had a twinkle in his eye, a wonderful sense of humour, he was marvellously foppish in a theatrical way. You used to wonder what he would say next.

"He had that love of life and love of people; he gathered people around him like other people gather butterflies or postage stamps."

'Absolute joy'

Actress Anne Reid, a star of TV programmes Dinner Ladies and Ladies of Letters, said: "He was a delightful man, I was a huge fan when I was young and he was in the Boulting Brothers films.

"He was the most wonderful comedy actor, things like I'm All Right Jack would make you weep with laughter.

"He had great zest for life, and a lot of style. He belonged to an age of elegance."

Carmichael was appointed an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2003.

In 1979, he wrote an autobiography, Will The Real Ian Carmichael ....

Novelist Kate Fenton, 55, is his second wife. His first wife Pym died in 1983.

He also leaves two daughters, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Keith Richardson, executive producer of The Royal, said Carmichael had filmed a couple of episodes last year which will be seen when the programme returns to the screen.

"He was an absolute joy, terrific and full of life," Mr Richardson added.

Michael Jackson's doctor 'to be charged over death'

Michael Jackson's doctor 'to be charged over death'

Dr.Murray

Los Angeles prosecutors will file a criminal case against Michael Jackson's doctor on Monday in connection with the singer's death, officials say.

Dr Conrad Murray's legal team says it expects him to be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The announcement came shortly before the doctor had planned to surrender himself at a Los Angeles courthouse.

Details of charges will be officially released Monday, the LA district attorney's office said.

Involuntary manslaughter occurs when a death is the indirect result of negligence or recklessness.

Jackson died at his Los Angeles home on 25 June aged 50. His death was ruled as homicide, mainly caused by the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.

Several drugs were found in Michael Jackson's body

A cocktail of drugs - including sedatives Midazolam and Diazepam, the painkiller Lidocaine and the stimulant Ephedrine - were also detected in his body a coroner confirmed.

Dr Murray told police he had been giving Jackson Propofol as part of his treatment for insomnia, according to an affidavit made public in August.

But he has always maintained he did not prescribe nor administer anything that should have killed the singer.

The legal wrangling comes after several days of negotiations where his lawyers have tried to arrange for Dr Murray to surrender to prosecutors, in an attempt to avoid him being handcuffed and arrested.

"It seems ridiculous to us that it's been dragging on this long", Dr Murray's defence team spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik was quoted as saying by AP.

"To us this is showmanship and we are just done", she added.

James Cameron

Director: James Cameron
Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver

James Cameron creates a new world where you are sure to feel gooseflesh by experiencing the novel and unique treatment never seen before. The director brings forth such an exquisite new world which has every single element to take your breath away. The film is a blend of novelty, aestheticism, technical treatment and minutely detailed presentation. At no time in the movie, you will feel that there is absence of plot. The movie heralds the beginning of the CGI and 3-D cinema with its special effects and shock treatment.

The plot is simple but highly engaging. It brings out a futuristic world where the US Armed Forces are seen discovering a priceless mineral in Pandora, a distant moon orbiting a star. The Forces intend to tame the Na’vi inhabitants before securing the mineral from the moon. So, instead of sending their scientists and rocket launchers, the Forces decide to send the human beings who shall take over the get up of a Na’vi. These humans aim at infiltrating the race that always stands up for peace. They also want to know all about their strengths and weaknesses.

And now enters Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) who is endowed with this task of getting among the Na’vi people and disturbing the peace environment of the area. In no time Jake falls in love with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) who happens to be the daughter of the Na’vi chief. The love plot weaves excellently into the fabric of the main plot and hence one finds it refreshing than being out-of way.

‘Avatar’ is an Indian word and thus the Indian audience will find several connotations in the movie. The flick is a complete cinematic experience and stands out a work of technical superiority. Cameron intends to spread out a message to save the world before it is too late. He does not introduce any preachy or moralistic tone in the movie yet very candidly warns human being to abstain from his destructive tendencies in order to keep the race of human surviving on the earth. Though there are no big names in the movie, yet they succeed in gaining over the interest and attention of the audience. To sum up, ‘Avatar’ is a must watch and you are sure to feel every moment of it!
